Consumer Reports on Buying Organic

Barbara Fisher, my peer at Well Fed blog Paper Palate, sent me a link to Consumer Reports’ guide to buying organic food on a budget. They offer plenty of good tips for getting bang for your organic food buck, but they make the common mistake of discounting the time it takes to shop around and visit different markets.

Low-income families often can’t do this, and so they’re out of luck if they want to keep pesticides out of their diet. Still, it’s heartening to know that organic food doesn’t have to be overly expensive. We can still hold out the hope that this food choice will be available to all in the not-too-distant future.
