Federal Funds for Farmer’s Markets

While you’re writing your local Representative to vote no on HR 4167, you should also take a moment to tell him/her to vote yes on HR 710, which would set aside federal funds for local farmer’s markets.

Local markets should be an important component of any economy. They help fund small farmers, who are vital to our agricultural future. They keep a decentralized food distribution system alive. They provide fresher, and often better, food.

But it’s hard work to start one, and it requires an infusion of capital. HR 710 would provide the kick that some markets need to get going.

Thanks to Tom Wark for the heads-up!
