Heinz Baby Food: GMO or No?

Forbes.com reports that, despite Greenpeace’s claims, Heinz’s Baby Rice Cereal does not contain GMOs. At least not in China, where government officials tested the product after the environmental group made its claims. China has put money into research on genetically modified organisms, but has not yet approved any GM products. Unlike the U.S., the Chinese government will study GMOs to ensure public safety issues.

This isn’t the first time false test results have turned into a fiasco with the help of Greenpeace. A while back the group nearly paralyzed grain trade between Mexico and the US with the false claim that GM was growing wild in Mexico. Then the group sued Nestle in a Beijing court and lost because nobody could find GM ingredients, and now another false test messed up the grocery business in Hong Kong. Greenpeace has lost all of my credibility.

Schiller,

I didn’t know about the previous incidents. It’s too bad they’re crying wolf so much since, as you say, they lose credibility for when they really do find something someday.
