Web Tidbits for Ethical Eaters

Tana Butler of the Small Farms blog points her readers to Certified Humane, an organization that makes an effort to recognize producers who handle their livestock responsibly. A few clicks will lead you to stores in your area that sell meat and dairy products that the organization has vetted.

When I saw Michael Pollan speak recently (more to come), he told the audience about the Eat Well Guide, which provides a database of stores that sell sustainably raised produce.

At the same talk, he mentioned Eat Wild, which offers a guide to grass-fed livestock. Grass-fed cows, pigs, and other animals represent a more sustainable option, as you can’t raise those animals in giant factories and stuff them with corn.

Eat Wild is new to me. It looks like a great site with a good mission.
