Right on the Money, Honey!

I’m a sucker for honey. I make a Mock Mexican Fried Ice Cream and honey is the ingredient that adds just the right touch. Honey is also ideal in quite a few savory dishes, from crostinis to salad dressings. That said, if you get a chance to try the good stuff, go for it. And here’s your chance … Bee Raw Honey.

Founded by Anne Becker in 1999, the company sprang to life from simple inspiration … and a collection. Anne collected honeys from all around the world. Attracted to the different varieties of colors available, what she wasn’t attracted to was the traditional packaging; she started thinking outside the box and got creative.

To enjoy the glorious colors to their fullest, she put the honeys in traditional laboratory vials. Giving them as gifts to friends, she stumbled on what would soon become Bee Raw. Her friends wanted to know where they could get more of the vials, and she soon started filling orders. The company officially took flight in December, 1999.

Even now, seven years later, Bee Raw continues to thrive, yet maintain itself as a small, local company. By supporting the work of small beekeepers, they are able to fully realize and pass on their pure passion about artisanal beekeepers honey. Since beekeepers work on such a small scale, particularly as compared to the bigger, more mass-produced manufacturers, they are able to have considerably more control over the quality of their products. You’re not going to find Tropical Lehua Honey and Desert Wildflower Honey in your local grocery store.

If you’re looking for a unique gift for someone, this just may be it … and better yet, you’ll be supporting a small company and small-scale beekeepers. If that’s not enough, they’ve been hailed by Oprah, Williams-Sonoma and Pastry Art & Design.
