Put Down the Broccoli!
The AP reports that a refrigerated trailer with $50,000 pounds worth of broccoli was recently stolen from the Chicago suburb of Villa Park. The trailer is 48 feet long and was parked in a rented parking space when it was stolen some time between Sunday and Tuesday morning.
The detective in charge of the case, also known as Captain Obvious, says that the thief was probably more interested in the trailer than the vegetables:
‘What is someone going to do with that amount of produce?’ Zorich said. ‘On the black market, I can’t imagine that’s something that’s worth money to anybody.’
Also not surprising is that the police department is not pulling out all the stops to find the broccoli and its trailer. The detective said: “We have homicides happening in town,” Zorich said. “We’re not really looking for a truck of broccoli right now.”

I don’t want to think about what a truckload of rotting broccoli smells like! It shouldn’t take them long to find it.
