Precocious Puberty or Parable?

What’s really going on?   Just about everyone has something to say about how “mature” our children are.   They’ve never been older at a younger age.  Along with that comes a whole host of new psychosocial problems that face our Nation’s children.  Too much sexual attention too soon, problems adjusting, problems in school, body image issues and even long term marriage and relationship problems.  It can even be linked to delinquency according to the International Journal of Clinical Practice.

Mothers tell me constantly “We never looked like that when I was in school.”

Children are big, so big in fact that it’s killing them.

This is the first generation, according to obesity experts, that have a shorter life expectancy than their parents.  With all our medical advances, we’re back sliding.  The burden on our healthcare system is just beginning.  Am I worried?  Absolutely.

So what is the problem?  Where do we start?   Good Science.  I have been told one hard and true fact all of my life as a researcher by some very smart people and  I’ve repeated it so many times that my children know it by rote “It’s not the truth, it’s the proof of the truth.”  So here it is.  The truth.

Fat increases Estrogen Levels

Estrogens are female sex hormones. You can think of them as a sort of hormonal fertilizer, making the cells of your body grow. Estrogens are responsible for breast development at puberty.  The amount of estrogen in your blood is constantly changing.   It does not matter, the more fat you have and eat, the more estrogen your body makes.  Cancer researchers have taken a great interest in this, because lowering the level of estrogen in your blood helps reduce the risk of breast cancer. Less estrogen means less stimulation for cancer cell growth.  Chubby isn’t cute, studies show chubby can cause cancer.

Why are the kids so fat?  That’s another quagmire.  One can blame portion control, which is a real and valid concern.  High Fructose Corn Syrup and other Fructose and Glucose products that are present in nearly everything are also to blame.  Many parents don’t know the different between these super sugars and real sugar.  Studies have shown that animals given exactly the same amount of calories will gain weight on a diet that includes this frankensweet.  Want proof of the truth?

There’s plenty of information here in an article entitled “Sweet But Not So Innocent.” Don’t do it, there is no other option.

Hormones and antibiotics.  This one is simple to me, but seems to escape most of the “Dairy Councils.”  Cows are given “supplements” to increase their motherliness, aka milk production.  They are also given supplements to increase the amount of weight they gain.  Why does it not make sense that if these cows are fed a steady diet of these products, that when our children eat and drink them, they become more motherly looking and become fatter?  YOU ARE WHAT YOU EAT!  If you eat a cow that has been treated to gain weight and be a hormone ball, so will you be.   If that is not the case, someone who is smarter than I am needs to explain to me where all these supplements go.

Like a person who smokes their entire life, do the lungs magically become pink and perfect when the human dies?   Go sell crazy somewhere else; I won’t let my kids eat it.  And guess what?  My children look their age.  My 10 year old daughter looks years younger than her already bra sporting peers.  She looks like my classmates did at her age.

Coincidence?  Hardly. And while I’m at it, what about Viagra?  Why is it that men’s estrogen levels are increasing steadily over the years causing more sexual problems than ever before?

I recently spoke with Dr. Al Sears, the author of the Doctor’s Heart Cure and we’re developing a study regarding men who consume organic and grass fed meats and dairy.  His educated and preliminary research has shown that what men eat directly affects their hormone levels.  The proof of the truth is coming.  Fat is fat.  Whether it’s hormone induced, fructose induced or produced by the over consumption of even organic fats.

Studies indicate that obesity is directly related to over-estrogenization in both sexes. All fat cells contain aromatase, so an increase in fat cell population will cause an increase in the conversion of testosterone into estrogen.  For goodness sake, let’s at least give our children a fighting chance.  Feeding them a diet full of high fructose corn syrup, hormones and antibiotics and gigantic portions is setting them up to fail, they’ll be fat and that’s no fairy tale.
