Go Green in the Kitchen

countryhome.jpgCountry Home rounded up some excellent tips on how to go green in your kitchen in their April 2007 issue.

- Go organic on soft fruits, such as grapes, strawberries, blueberries, and raspberries. They tend to hold onto the highest concentrations of pesticide residues. Michel Nischan

- Buy organic produce in season at its nutritional best (and lowest price). Michel Nischan

- Avoid plastic containers for storing and reheating foods; use glass, which will far outlast plastic and is a much safer choice. Crissy Trask

- Ask for an ice cream cone instead of a cup and spoon. It’s a tasty little way to avoid paper and plastic waste. Idealbite.com

- Use ceramic or glass containers instead of plastic baggies for lunch. Plastic baggies can hang around landfills for up to 1,000 years. Idealbite.com
