Yuban Coffee Cares About the Environment
It’s always good to hear about a company seeking to better the environment, both in terms of people and land, and Yuban Coffee is no exception. What makes it even sweeter, is that they are owned by the food giant, Kraft Foods.
Last year, Yuban Coffee earned their Rainforest Alliance certification, which, in a nutshell, means that 30% of their beans are grown using ecologically sensitive farming methods, and their farms provide steady work, fair wages, health benefits and land-use training for over 46,000 people in Central and South America.
All that is quite excellent. But while recently researching an upcoming piece for our site, A Nice Cuppa, I also found a Make a Difference section on Yuban’s website, further demonstrating their efforts.
“Did you know that approximately 50 percent of all landfill space is occupied by paper? Or, that the food you buy travels approximately 1,200 miles to get to your plate? These are just a few of the things that are impacting our environment, and will have lasting effects for years to come. The good news is, by making a few easy changes to your surroundings or daily routine, you can start to lead a more sustainable lifestyle…and help make a difference every day.”
