Food & Wine Goes Green

food.jpgDid you hear the news?  Starting with the June 2007 issue of Food & Wine issue, the magazine has taken on a decidedly more environmental approach to their printing process.  They are now using a matte-finish paper from an eco-friendly company.  Manufactured in Finland, the plant takes by-products “like bark, peat, branch tops and stumps into electricity and steam to help power the process, reducing its carbon emissions by about 70,000 tons a year.”  That’s certainly nothing to sneeze at!

The new paper that Food & Wine is now printed on, although thicker and sturdier, is lighter than what they used previously, which means less material is used for production, and less fossil fuel for distribution.

Kudos to them!
