Thanks for reading, Simon! It's true that Heinz organic ketchup is free from high fructose corn syrup--but it's sweetened with "organic sugar." (In the UK, the label reads something like "organic invert sugar syrup.") So, if you're diabetic, this is still off-limits. Agave, on the other hand, is metabolized differently, as I understand it, so can be safely consumed by those who are on restricted-sugar diets.

Otherwise, as long as the ingredients are organic, it's pretty much a matter of taste. (And I enjoy Heinz, as well as a few other ketchup-style condiments.)

Here's a good round-up of several different varieties you might be interested in: http://www.thenibble.com/reviews/main/condiments/ketchup/ketchup-roundup.asp

Cheers,

Any discussion of ketchup is a little empty without mentioning the landmark ketchup essay: "The Ketchup Conundrum" which I chat a bit about in this blog entry:
http://www.smallfarmcentral.com/blog/ketchup-most-interesting-condiment

thanks for reviewing this product and I appreciate your sentiment, but really, Heinz ketchup is the perfect condiment and I am not looking for a switch! I believe the Organic version is sans high fructose corn syrup if that helps.

I am from Pittsburgh, so that may color my judgment, but from what I understand, people across the country feel the same way about heinz.
